An international multi-disciplinary group was formed in 1999 (the TBI consensus Group, later the QOLIBRI Task Force) to develop a patient-based TBI specific questionnaire. The subjective experience of the patient has been paramount throughout our work. From the outset the international nature of the group provided the opportunity to accommodate cultural differences. Over the next decade the QOLIBRI was developed, resulting in the current 37 item instrument.
